For the second year, Robert N. Hartsell, P.A.was proud to sponsor the Environmental and Land Use Law Section (ELULS) of the Florida Bar’s flagship conference, the Annual Update, at the Sawgrass Marriot Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
For this year’s Annual Update Robert assembled a panel of esteemed lawyers practicing in the field of land use law. Mr. Richard Grosso (Nova Southeastern University Professor of Law), Mr. Robert Diffenderfer (shareholder at Lewis, Longman and Walker) and Mr. Derek Howard (Assistant County Attorney for Monroe County) discussed current land use law issues troubling the State of Florida. The panel titled Land Use Practice Post-DCA: What are Important State Resources and Facilities and What’s DEO’s Jurisdiction? took at in-depth look at some of the ambiguities in Chapter 163 Florida Statutes and discussed necessary revisions to the law to enable practitioners to advise their clients with a sense of clarity regardless of whether their clients are County Commissioners, Developers or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO). As an event sponsor, the firm had a display table with information about Robert N. Hartsell, P.A.’s practice and accomplishments in Environmental Law and Land Use Law. Robert Hartsell also participated in this years Eco Walk where he witnessed the birth of 11 baby sea turtles and watched them make their way out to sea.
Robert actively participates in the section. In 2012-2013 Robert served as the Land Use Law Committee Chairman, the internet committee cahainrman and an ELULS Executive Council Member. Robert was re-elected as an executive council member and will will lead the Pollution Assessment, Remediation, Management and Prevention Committee as a co-chair and will serve as a liaison to the affiliates section of ELULS.
